Manila Folder Album

This is what I've been so excited to share! I just finished it up last night. So what is it? It's an album made out of a manila file folder! I saw this idea at CHA and couldn't wait to try it out myself! Just a few folds and some glue and you've got yourself an album that's fun to decorate and inexpensive! I know we have tons of manila file folders hanging around at our house. I used the new Cosmo Cricket Gretel Collection and Stampin' Up True Friend set (available September 1st). I'm teaching this album in a class on September 12th at Pages from the Heart in Monrovia. If you're interested in attending, you can call the store at 626-358-5334 to sign up! Once I'm finished with the class, I'll be decorating the album with pictures of my husband and I. We are at a transitional time in our lives when we could go one of several directions. I made this album specifically to document our goals, dreams, memories, traditions, etc. It will be fun to look back on in another ten years! I used Creating Keepsakes rub-ons for our names on the tabs of the album. The flowers on the tabs are from the Fancy Pants Pollen Dust set and stamped in Versamagic Red Brick. To close the album, I made a slit with an Xacto knife in the back page of the album and threaded the chocolate satin ribbon through to tie in front. The edges of the manila album are sponged with Versamagic Jumbo Java ink. The back is also covered with patterned paper. I think that covers most of the details that might not be apparent from the pictures. The detailed supply list is below. Thanks for stopping by today!

Supplies:
Stamps: Stampin' Up True Friend, Fancy Pants Pollen Dust
Paper: Cosmo Cricket Gretel Collection, Chocolate Chip, Creamy Caramel, Very Vanilla
Ink: Versamagic Red Brick, Versamagic Jumbo Java, Creamy Caramel, Chocolate Chip, Sage Shadow
Accessories: Manila file folder, chocolate satin ribbon, chocolate grosgrain ribbon, aged copper decorative brads, paper piercer, dimensionals, sponge, photo corner punch, corner rounder, Xacto knife, Creating Keepsakes rubons, Pewter brads

Would you consider sharing how to make the base of the album once you've done your class? Or, how about coming to Idaho to teach a class? Thanks for all the wonderful projects you share on your blog.

It's amazing and beautiful! Now this is one thing I think I could actually make...it's not as intimidating as an entire scrapbook, yet it would be incredibly keepsake-able...wouldn't it be cool to do one on every anniversary or so? If you do share the instructions, I might just give it a whirl :) --Cody :)

Taylor, This is gorgeous. Wish I lived closer (I think I'm about 2600 miles from you) :-(. I love these "little" albums--my teen daughter and her friends like to make them for each other as gifts! Hopefully after your class you would be willing to share the instructions for the base. In the meantime I think I'm going to play around a little. TFS!

Taylor -- this is very cool -- rather like the album that folks got to do on the cruise (that one used a peachy folder) It looks like you just fold up the "bottom" one third of the way up, then accordion fold the pages... but you make it look quite elegant! It is neat the way you have two tabs, aparently! Doesn't seem like it would work like that -- gotta see for myself (I guess it might depend on the folder you have, eh?) Thanks for all the wonderful inspiration!
