Easter Pail

Jon and I thought it would be fun to make each other Easter baskets and fill them with our favorite candies. Well actually... I thought it would be fun and he's obliging my idea. *wink* We decided to give up sweets for Lent. Sooo... no candy, cookies, cake, or desserts of any kind. Needless to say, I'm really looking forward to indulging myself on Easter. Jelly beans and Peeps are two of my very favorite things and this is prime season for these candies! It has been tough to say no, but I will savor the taste even more come Easter. I'm going to ask my mom to make one of her famous pecan pies for Easter dinner too! YUM! (Mom... if you're reading... this is me asking you to make a pecan pie for Easter *grin*). OK... so on to the details of my Easter Pail. The clear pail is by Stampendous and I got mine from Eclectic Paperie. I used white Stazon to stamp the peeps around the can. The peep stamp is by Savvy Stamps, but it has been discontinued. I added the ribbon around the pail, wrapped it around the handle, and used it to tie a bow. The flower is a Prima from the new Prima Sprites. The lid is also decorated with flower stamps by Technique Tuesday and some patterned paper from the Piggy Tales Gretel Collection. Jon's favorite candies are Twix, Reese's Peanut Butter Cups, Kit Kat, and Butterfingers. I'm going to fill it with a little bit of everything! :)

Update

I taught a card class at Pages from the Heart in Monrovia last night. We had so much fun! Hello to all the ladies if you're reading this! :) I didn't have time to make a card for today's blog fodder so I'm going to post an update on the tape. Thank you to all those who have paid for your purchase! Please check this post and if your name is highlighted in green, that means I have received your payment. Please let me know if you think there is an error. I will be sending reminder emails to those who haven't paid by the end of this week. I spoke with the manufacturer and they began shipping the tape to me (in 15 different shipments!) on Tuesday. Once I receive the tape, I'm hoping to get it packaged and shipped out to you in 1-2 weeks. Please let me know if you have any questions!

Happy Birthday, Friend!

Another card with the Friends and Flowers scrappin' kit! This kit makes it so easy to make quick and fun cards. I just love that everything coordinates. I've been making a lot of birthday cards lately and now I'm just hoping I can remember to send them on time! I'm so bad at that! The card base is So Saffron stamped with the harlequin background from Looks Like Spring. I got the acetate Happy Birthday tag so long ago that I can't even remember when or where! :) The rest of the elements are from the scrappin' kit and pretty self explanatory. Thanks for stopping by today even though I'm not in a very talkative mood! Taxes were prepared last night and that just takes it all out of me! ;) I am sooooooooooo glad it's done though! WHEW!

Friends & Flowers

It felt so good to sit down last night and create something with no agenda! I've been collecting the Friends & Flowers scrappin' kits for quite a while now (I think I have about 10 of them) and I finally decided to break one open last night! I knew I wanted to use the small flower stickers on some part of the card so I started by punching holes with my 1/2" circle punch in the So Saffron layer. I mounted it on top of a Whisper White piece using dimensionals and added the flower stickers inside each hole punch. Then I added the brown scalloped sticker to the edge of the So Saffron layer. It provides a break between the main piece and the patterned paper. The Pumpkin Pie flower is a sticker from the kit. I stamped the other flower in Cool Caribbean ink, cut it out, and curled the edges with a pencil. The Rose Red flower is also a sticker from the kit. And I had to add a little bling to the flower center! In fact, I'm running out of bling and I'll have to use one of my Mike's coupons to get some more this week! The sentiment is from the PaperTray set. And speaking of PaperTrey, they are hosting a customer contest! Check it out here... could you be the next Guest Star Stamper??

What happens in Vegas...

...stays in Vegas! We all know the cliche, but I'm happy to report that I didn't do anything in Vegas that I wouldn't tell you all about! ;) Overall it was a great trip, but I'm going to have to say that Vegas isn't my favorite vacation spot. I'm really more of a "layout on the beach with a good book" kinda gal! While we were there, we walked around to all the casinos on the strip. I was amazed at the $$$ that goes into these places! Just in case you're not familiar with Vegas, most of the hotels are themed. For instance, I loved New York New York with the Statue of Liberty out front and the themed shops inside. I loved the smoking potholes... very New York! I also loved the Venetian with the gondolas (although we didn't take a ride on them). And the Bellagio was definitely the prettiest! Such ornate glass work and the fountains outside were fabulous! We stayed at the Luxor which was nice as well. It is shaped like a pyramid and the weirdest part is that the elevators move side to side instead of up and down. I didn't know this when I stepped on for the first time and when it started going I almost fell down because I wasn't expecting it! LOL! We also went to the Hoover Dam and went on the discovery tour there. What an awesome piece of architecture and to think it was built before computers and the high-tech machinery we have available today. Besides seeing all the sites, we stopped by a couple outlet malls and I got something I've been wanting for a looooooong time... a Coach purse! I was just tickled with my purchase. I can't find a pic of the exact one I picked out, but here's a pic of one that is similar. The exact one I got is all white leather and has two pockets in front. I also got a pink flower charm and a black and white signature scarf to tie on the purse. Oh... and can't forget the leather cleaner since it is white! I also made a big score at the hotel. The shampoo bottles in the Luxor are clear plastic cylinders with metal screw top lids. I collected them from all the rooms we occupied, washed out the shampoo, and now they're ready to be used as brad/eyelet storage! I will never hear the end of it from my husband though! He teases me that even on vacation my mind is constantly working, dreaming up how to use everyday items creatively. :)

I'm sure you all want to know the winner of my blog candy drawing so I won't make you wait any longer! Thank you all for sharing your favorite vacation spots! I'm hoping to put together a list and post it here. With summer coming soon, we all might be looking for a new vacation spot. I used this website to randomly generate a number and the lucky winner is Amanda Sewell! YAY! Amanda, send me your address and I'll get these goodies in the mail!

Vacation Blog Candy

Good morning! We're heading to Vegas this morning and I thought what better way to celebrate my little vacation than with some blog candy!? Big thanks goes out to Anna who alerted me that the Pasadena Michael's had these cute acrylic stamps in stock! Blog candy includes four of these stamp sets, two acrylic blocks, and a decorated bandaid tin to store them all in. Just leave me a comment and answer this question: Where is your favorite vacation spot? I can't wait to read all your comments. I will respond to emails and update the tape payments list when I return. Have a great week!

VIVA LAS VEGAS! *wink*

Dutch Girl

Most people assume I'm a Dutch girl since my last name is Dutch, but it's actually my husband who is Dutch. I have no idea what I am... maybe English? LOL! My maiden name was Cook... any ideas?? Anyway, that is neither here nor there. I wanted to tell you about this card I made with the new Dutch Girl Collection by Cosmo Cricket. I got one sheet of each design from Eclectic Paperie. It was tough to cut into that first sheet, but now I'm on a roll! ;) The card base is Real Red and I stamped it with the flowers from Simply Said. For some reason, red on red stamping is incredibly difficult to pick up in a photo. However, it picked up the Sakura stardust gel pen on each of the flower centers. It's really not that pronounced in reality. I also stamped the background with a swirl stamp from The Angel Company Flourishes stamp set. I pierced along the swirls and then stitched with white gel pen. The 'let love bloom' sentiment is also from The Angel Company. Hope you all have a wonderful day! Stay tuned tomorrow for a celebration of my vacation in Vegas! *wink*

Technique Tuesday

Good morning! My inlaws arrived yesterday morning (their flight on Saturday was cancelled) and we've been having lots of fun since they got here. Yesterday we drove to Santa Monica and walked the pier, then up Pacific Coast Highway, then back down and into Hollywood to see the Kodak Theatre, Grauman's Chinese Mann Theatre, and the Walk of Fame. We also drove down Rodeo Drive... such gorgeous houses! Obviously with all of that going on, I didn't have time to stamp yesterday, but I thought I'd share this card that I made a few weeks ago. I have wanted the Petal Pushers stamp set by Technique Tuesday for so long! I found it on sale at my LSS a couple weeks ago and snatched up the last one! Woohoo!! The Certainly Celery backround is stamped with the harlequin stamp from Looks Like Spring. I used the Cuttlebug Divine Swirls folder on the Elegant Eggplant piece and sponged over it with white craft ink. The main image was created using the masking technique. The sentiment is from the Paper Tray set. I added rhinestones to the flower centers and I happened to have the perfect flower charm to finish it off! I'm working today (waaaaaah), but my husband and his family plan to do the VIP tour at the Warner Brothers Studio and see a Jay Leno taping. Hope you all have a wonderful day!

Baby Frame

I received several emails, PM's, and comments about my baby entry yesterday. I'm so glad you liked it! Many of you were under the impression that this was a card and that made me realize that I never really explained it! LOL! It is a wooden frame made by Provo Craft that I got on clearance at Joann's. It was unfinished so I painted it with white acrylic paint, sanded it, and used Mod Podge to adhere the patterned paper. For the inside of the frame I used PaperTrey Butterfly Kisses, Tall Tales Alpha, So Very, Everyday Flexible Phrases, and the Amuse polka dot alpha. This part could easily be removed and replaced with a picture of the baby. I'm wishing I had bought more of these frames when I had the chance, because they would certainly make a cute baby gift!

My in-laws are coming in town on Saturday (Hi Marv & Jan!) along with my husband's brother and sister and their spouses. This is a big deal since they live halfway across the country and we don't see them very often! So I'm busy making our apartment presentable and planning for their arrival. They're going to be here for a week and we have some fun stuff planned...drive up the Pacific Coast Highway, go to the beach, Ellen show taping, Jay Leno show taping, and we're driving to Vegas on Wednesday to walk the strip, do the casino thing, and see a show (possibly Blue Man Group or Cirque du Soleil). So my blogging will probably be sparce next week, but I will be posting payment instructions for the tape early in the week (or possibly this weekend if I'm really on top of things!). Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

Butterfly Kisses

The new set has arrived from PaperTreyInk! And with it comes a new gallery full of ideas and a new design team member, Ellen Hutson! I am so glad she joined the team! If you've ever met Ellen you know what a joy she is! So go check out the gallery! I've attached one of the samples I made here. You seriously don't want to miss out on Butterfly Kisses! One of my favorite things about Nichole's stamp sets is how she breaks up each large image into the smaller images that make it up. This allows for so many possibilities! I especially love that I can stamp my own background paper to match whichever butterfly image I want to use! Also make sure you check out the Come Grow With Us program! I've already seen two more of the sets that Nichole has to offer and I assure you it won't be hard to earn the anniversary stamp set for free! The Dirty Dozen gallery has also opened today over at Splitcoaststampers. Come meet the newest members of the Dirty Dozen! You won't be disappointed! Once again, I'm amazed with what everybody has come up with!

Tape Sales

To avoid confusion, I'm posting a list of the people who ordered tape yesterday before the rolls were gone. I have continued to receive emails from people who must not have gotten the update. The rolls were all spoken for by about 12pm (noon) yesterday. So if you don't see your name below then I didn't get your order in time. I am still checking to see if I can get more tape. Hopefully I will find out by the end of the day and you guys will be the first to know!

If your name is highlighted in green, that means I have received your payment. If your name is highlighted in red, that means I have received your payment and shipped your tape. If you sent an Echeck through PayPal, I will highlight your name in 3-4 days when the funds clear your bank account. If your name is listed below and you haven't received payment instructions, please send me another email. Thanks!

Your names are now located in the link at the bottom of this post titled "Read More" These are the people who got in on the first 100 rolls of tape and should already have payment instructions.

A Deal for You....

Guess what!? I found a deal and I want to pass it along to all of you! I discovered these rolls of double stick tape that work exactly like Stampin' Up Sticky Strip...also known as red-line tape. You can see that this roll is white line instead of the red line that SU offers. Other than that insignificant difference, it is the same thing! It can be used to adhere microbeads to your cards, beaded pens, etc. It is heat resistant so you can emboss it... add EP to a strip of it and heat it. Makes a fun and easy striped background! It is also great for adhering paper to slippery surfaces and when you need some extra stickiness. It's the strongest tape out there! So how much is it!? That's the best part!! You get over five times the amount that SU! sells on one roll for the same price (or less if you order enough to get a quantity discount). One roll of 1/4" tape is 55 yards for just $7.00! Here are the deets:

1 roll - $7.00 each plus $2.00 Standard USPS shipping

2 rolls - $7.00 each plus $3.00 Standard USPS shipping

3 or more rolls - $6.50 each plus $4.05 Priority USPS shipping

If you'd like to have some of this tape, send me an email (link at the top underneath my picture) with your order. I will respond to your email with payment instructions. I have 100 rolls up for grabs and they are ready to ship immediately after receiving your payment. Let me know if you have any questions! Hope you all had a great weekend!

Cupcake Friday!

Happy Cupcake Day! I'm so glad it's Friday... I'm ready for the weekend! I'll be attending a stamp convention with some SoCal friends on Saturday and then sitting down at my craft table to create on Sunday. It's supposed to be 94 degrees on Sunday so I'll probably be playing outside too! (((HUGS))) to all of you still buried in snow! Today's cupcake image comes from my own collection of stamps. Lockhart Stamp Company is one of my favorites! They have some awesome cupcake images and so much more to choose from. Check out Ellen's online store for all the goodies! I colored the image with markers (mostly because I was too tired to drag out the Prismacolor pencils! LOL!) and topped each cupcake with a little jewel. I colored the cupcake stand with silver paint pen. The outside of the image is highlighted with Crystal Stickles. I pierced around the image and instead of stitching, I traced around each hole with white gel pen. The Brocade Blue card base is stamped with Aida Cloth. The patterned paper is from the Hansel collection by Piggy Tales. The little present charm is by Making Memories and the ribbon is from Michael's. I have met so many wonderful people through this hobby we all love, and I'd like to introduce a couple of them to you today. This is Willow.... isn't she adorable!? Look at that cute pink bow in her hair!! And her owner Pegi Taylor is just the sweetest lady that ever lived! She has been such an encouragement to me over the past few months. Pegi sent me this picture of Willow to show me how Cupcake Friday has reached into the doggie world (notice the little cupcake on Willow's dress)! *wink* Pegi dresses Willow in her cute cupcake outfit every Friday. She also scanned a pic of the dress... I love how it says "yummy" on the cupcake. Too cute! Thanks Pegi and Willow for sharing your Cupcake Friday tradition!

Shopper Girls

Another card using the shopper girls from My Favorite Things! I just love coloring these images! The color combo came from a recent color challenge on Splitcoast (view challenge here). It is Cool Caribbean, Elegant Eggplant, and Certainly Celery. The card base was stamped with the retired Paisley Print background. I colored the image with Prismacolor pencils and blended with gamsol and stump. I lightly colored around the edge and pulled the color into the middle of the image by blending with gamsol. The little shoe charm is from Hobby Lobby and the ribbon is from StarLitStudio. I've got a class going on tonight and I'm super excited about it (Hi, Judy... see you tonight)!! There's really nothing I love more than getting together with a bunch of ladies who love stamping as much as I do and are so eager to learn what I have to teach. Hopefully I can share some class project pictures later this week!

Rubber Romance & Basic Grey

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend! I got so much accomplished, but I can't share it yet *sad face*. That has been the hardest part of being on a design team... I create things that I love and want to share right away, but I have to wait a few weeks until the gallery is released. Hopefully you will all check it out when the time comes! :) This is another one of the cards I made the other night as thank you's to send out to friends. It's going out to a friend who has been so sweet to me. I really couldn't ask for better friends! The shopper girl is a stamp by Rubber Romance. I stamped her on various Basic Grey Phoebe papers and cut out the bags and the band on her hat. The Basic Grey Phoebe papers are from a 6x6 pad that I got from Eclectic Paperie. I love the 6x6 pads! I colored her hair and skin with Prismacolor pencils and blended with gamsol and a stump. The card base is Cool Caribbean stamped with the background from the Polka Dots and Paisley stamp set. The ribbon is from StarLitStudio. The sentiment is from My Favorite Things.

My Favorite Things

I have so much to be thankful for lately that I had to forgo a cupcake card last night and start in on some thank you cards! I have been blessed by so many friends recently and I hope this little token of my appreciation will express that. So keep an eye on your mailbox... it might be coming to you! :) I used my new stamps from My Favorite Things! I love these stamps! They come in sets and each set has cute sayings to go with it. For example, the shoppers set comes with sayings Say Charge, Good Friends are Priceless, Retail Therapy, and Time to Shop. So fun! I also used my new Basic Grey Phoebe paper from Eclectic Paperie. I love the new Basic Grey collections... all of them! And I especially love that each collection comes in a 6x6 pad. The designs are shruken down so you still get the full effect of the 12x12 paper just in a smaller size...perfect for card making! The image is colored with Prismcolor pencils and blended with gamsol and a stump. I used paper piecing on a few of the shopping bags, some Stickles on her dress, and a little rhinestone for the flower center. The ribbon is from Cindy at StarLitStudio. I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

I can't wait to get my hands on these new items and all you have to do to win them is leave a comment on the EP blog and you'll be entered into the drawing!! Tell 'em that Taylor sent you! :)

Welcome Baby & A Dream...

Another baby card from my night of fun stamping. I watercolored the giraffe and the little puddle it's standing in. The rest of the background was sponged with Bashful Blue ink. I faux stitched each piece of patterned paper together and did the same stitch around the main image. The paper is from the Crate Cowboy Collection at Eclectic Paperie. The welcome baby sentiment is from My Favorite Things. The safety pin charm is Making Memories.

On another note, I had the strangest dream last night. Somehow my dreams always turn into nightmares. Anybody want to interpret this one for me?? :) My dream began with an innocent conversation with Brian Williams (the news anchor). LOL! For some reason I was in the studio and after the broadcast we struck up a conversation. I figured if I followed him outside he might ask me to have dinner and we could continue our conversation (not sure what we were discussing). My plan didn't work because we walked a few blocks and then he jumped in a cab and left me all alone in a strange neighborhood. In the next instant the cops showed up with drug-sniffing dogs and bombs started going off and I had to sit huddled behind the counter in a Subway restaurant. The only good part of the night was that I remember eating all the white chocolate macadamia nut cookies from the cookie case while I waited for the cops to search through the rubble and find me. Now how is that for weird!? My dreams always seem so real that when I woke up this morning I actually had to talk myself out of it... "Taylor... you did not have a conversation with Brian Williams last night and there were no bombs or drug-sniffing dogs and you did not eat 12 cookies from Subway." Hehe. Hopefully you guys don't think I'm a nutjob! I always get a kick out of sharing my dreams when I remember them.
