Fore You

Do you have difficulty shopping for the men in your life? My husband and my dad are two of the toughest people to buy gifts for, nevermind figuring out a gift to make them! I thought and thought about what interests my dad and my husband have in common. Then it dawned on me...they both love to golf! So I decided to get creative and put a different spin on the Papertrey Ink Egg Box. I hope this idea will inspire you to create a gift for the golfers in your life.
I started by taking the insert out of the Egg Box. I cut a piece of cardstock to fit exactly over the top and placed it upside down on my workspace.

Then I traced each of the holes onto the cardstock.

And punched out each of the holes with the 1 3/8" circle punch.

I finished the outside of the box with Papertrey Ink Summer Sunrise cardstock and patterned paper from American Crafts. I used the string and pennant from It's a Celebration to create the golf scene. I used the Simple Alphabet to spell out "Fore You" and the "Dad" sentiment is from Pond Life.

The golf balls fit perfectly inside each of the egg holes. I glued the insert into the box towards the top so the golf balls sit up higher. This would be perfect for some specially monogrammed golf balls... or have the kids use Sharpie markers to decorate the balls for dad! Thanks for stopping by tonight!

What a wonderful idea! I can add one extra little touch - something my kids do every year for Father's Day - they decorate each golf ball with Sharpie pens, making each unique! Their dad loves using them and never has trouble distinguishing his from all the others! You could even try using rub-ons!

Thanks for all the wonderful ideas!

Such a smart idea! I, too, am a golf widow. DH is currently on a 10-day golf trip with 20 of his buddies... and I have a few of these boxes left. Guess what he's having for Father's day! Thanks for the inspiration. Your blog is on my daily to-check list.
