Taylored Expressions Sketch Challenge #86

Happy Friday! Thanks for joining us for another Taylored Expressions Sketch Challenge! I’ve been talking about making some changes with the sketch challenge for a few weeks and this week we’re kicking it off with a search for new designers to join our weekly sketch crew! You can read more of the details down below if you’re interested in joining the crew to provide sketch inspiration each week!
But first, I’m excited to show you the cards I created using this week’s sketch. Yes…I said cards! My first card turned out exactly how I had imagined it in my head. I love it when that happens! But then I realized that it was harder to see the sketch in the card so I decided to create another one and stick to the sketch more literally. I used the new Wings of Joy stamp set for both cards, but with very different patterned paper combinations. I used the Cosmo Cricket Earth Love collection for the first card. I thought the whimsical cloud pattern would be perfect for my birdhouse scene. I’ve had this self-adhesive felt branch (from Prima) in my hoarded stash for a while now. I used the branch as the scalloped piece in my sketch. For the image panel I used the Spellbinders Labels 6 die template. It reminded me of a big puffy cloud so I cut it out of patterned paper and sponged around the edges. The birdhouse was stamped in Memento Rich Cocoa ink and colored with Copic markers. I cut it out and popped it up on foam tape over the Labels 6 panel. Instead of snow on the birdhouse I covered it with Baby Peach Flower Soft so the birds have a little flower garden right outside their front door! *grin* For the three circles to the left of the image panel I colored and cut out three little birds to sit along the branch. Then I just added my sentiment (from Branching Out) and some faux stitching.

I also used Wings of Joy for the second card, but I paired it with Cosmo Cricket Jolly by Golly patterned paper for a Christmas card. I stamped the image in Memento Tuxedo Black onto Choice Buttercream cardstock and colored it with Copic markers. I also stamped the sentiment in Tuxedo Black ink and cut it out. I used a pencil to form the sentiment into a wavy banner and then adhered it underneath the image. This time I used the Stampin’ Up scalloped border punch and three small buttons to the left of the image panel in order to follow the sketch more literally. I also added some brown faux stitching around the outside…got a little carried away with the piercing on these cards! That’s it for my cards!
Check out even more sketch inspiration from the Sketch Crew: Jami Sibley, Lynn Mercurio, Sherrie Siemens, Jackie Pedro, Monika Davis
And now it’s time to find out more about joining the sketch crew!

I’m looking to add three new people to the Sketch Crew! If you’re interested in joining us, just create a card using today’s sketch and any stamps your heart desires.
