December Studio Challenge - Merry & Bright

Good morning & Happy Tuesday! I wish my Tuesday had started off happier, but I just accidentally deleted all of the comments that have been left here on my blog since November. I was trying to get rid of those pesky spam comments that make their way onto my blog (despite the spam filters I have set up) but the check box next to ALL of the comments was selected and before I realized it I clicked "delete". *sad face* So if you've left a comment here in the last month or so please know that it wasn't deleted intentionally!

Well, now that I've let out that frustration I am so excited to be participating in the last Baker's Dozen Studio Challenge for 2012! Each month the Baker's Dozen and I hunker down in our stamp studios for a special challenge. Here's the challenge we were tasked with for December:
Inspiration is all around us.  Many of us learned to stamp by CASEing other stampers we admire.  (CASE = Copy and Share Everything)  We want everyone to know that, not only is CASEing perfectly OK, it's actually pretty flattering and a lot of fun!  And it can be especially helpful in the midst of the busy holiday season when it's hard to think straight!
So today we've taken inspiration from our fellow Baker's Dozen teammates to create holiday cards. I'll be the first to admit that I stretched the rules and created a Christmas themed scrapbook layout. When I found out that the fabulous Stephanie Kraft was to be my inspiration it only took me a matter of minutes to settle on CASEing one of her amazing layouts. I always love how she incorporates TE stamps and dies with her photographs so effortlessly!
This project is the one I decided to CASE:

And here's my version with a Christmas theme:

I loved how her pictures were offset at a diagonal so I started there. Then I cut the patterned paper panels (from Doodlebug's North Pole collection) and stitched around each one. OK... I'll be honest here, I didn't personally stitch the panels. Stephanie is known for her sewing and I couldn't copy one of her creations without stitching! But the sewing machine is not my friend so I called in the troops (a.k.a. my mom) to sew around the patterned paper panels with a zig zag stitch. Thanks, mom!

I used the Very Merry stamp set that comes with the coordinating Merry die to complete the page with gold embossed ornaments and the Merry & Bright title. I also used several Taylored dies on the page (see complete supply list below). Tip: if you get overwhelmed by copying detailed projects, simply choose a couple of your favorite details and use those to inspire your creation.

The rest of the Baker's Dozen gals are CASEing their fellow teammates too so make sure you check 'em out and get some tips and tricks for copying your favorite designers!
